We enjoyed a beautiful holiday workshop this weekend, where students came together to share their holiday music and spread festive cheer! Alexa is home from Penn State and we were lucky enough to have her join us for the party. After listening to everyone's holiday songs, students broke into groups and composed their own improvisation of "McDrip the Slushy Snowman". (Thank you Andrea Dow for this fun and exciting activity!) Make sure to watch the videos below to hear their original improvs! We ended our party with pizza and yummy treats, while sharing stories and memories with contagious smiles and laughs! Thank you to all my students for continuing to work so hard and balance your busy schedules to find the time to make this weekend come together. I'm so grateful for each and every one of you! I wish everyone a wonderful holiday and a very Happy and Healthy 2019!!

Keeping with our tradition of years past, students came together this weekend for our annual Halloween workshop! Due to busy schedules, we had a smaller group then usual, but that didn't slow down the enthusiasm! First we listened to our spooky Halloween songs performed by students dressed up in their costumes. Then we had our annual scavenger hunt, complete with an original music video! The teams also challenged each other at creating their own scarecrows and then we had our candy corn contest. Congratulations to Vivian for winning the contest (again!!) with the closest guess for how many candy corn were in the jar. (Vivian has been winning the candy corn contest for so many consecutive years now that we've lost count!!) Below you will find some pictures and their video from the 2018 Halloween workshop!

It's that time of year again!! Hard to believe it, but school's back in session and we started the academic year off with an awesome workshop! Congratulations to Emily for her stellar first performance!! After listening to all of the pieces, students split into pairs to work on composing their own arrangement to "Rock Your Way Back to School", which they then performed along with the accompanying duet part. (Thanks TPT for this awesome activity!). Some students added lyrics to their compositions - Be sure to check them out below! While enjoying pizza and cookies, we played Music "This or That" (Thanks Wendy Stevens!), which provided many thought provoking questions where we learned a lot about each other! As usual, a super fun time was had all around! :-)
Rocking Back to School, arr. by Catherine and Quinn "Time to get up! Please don't miss the bus, People are gross on the bus Math is hard! Math is hard! Now it's time to go to lunch School is over, I got through the day Math is VERY hard! Math is STILL hard!"
